Matt is a 2007 graduate of the School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) with a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education. Currently, Matt is pursuing a Master's degree in tuba performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. From 2007-2009, Matt served as Director of Bands at Sunset Middle School in Brentwood, TN. Being an active freelance tubist in the Middle Tennessee area for several years, Matt served as Principal tuba/Production Manager for the Murfreesboro Symphony for two seasons, and has also performed in the Nashville Philharmonic, Trevecca Nazarene Symphony Orchestra and the Nashville Symphony. In addition to his duties in the Broad Street Brass Quintet, he has also performed with the First Class Brass based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Matt's teachers include Gilbert Long, David Loucky, Michael Arndt, and Joseph Stegemann. Matt is a member of MTSBOA, MENC, and PET. Along with his wife Katie, Matt resides in Overland Park, KS. Matt also enjoys church softball, disc golf, and hanging out on weekends with his twin brother Noah and his wife Anna. |
